Set up and manage a tree nursey to supply indigenous planting materials for restoration
The project was commissioned due to the demand for restoration materials in anticipation of oil and gas exploration activities in Murchison Falls National Park. The main objective was to restore the exploration footprints within the National Park. Specifically the project had three objectives:
Set up and manage a tree nursey to supply indigenous planting materials for restoration
Recruit and train local communities in restoration programme in a protected area
Restore and manage establishment in formally degraded savannah areas
The project achieved its target and managed to propagate over 100 different indigenous tree, shrub and grass species which was used in restoration with a role play of the trained local communities
